KAUNAS PHOTO 2010 - calendar of events

September 3 (Friday) 18.00, Gallery "Meno parkas" (Rotušės square 27) – Opening of photography and objects’ exhibition by the artists and spouses Petri Nuutinen and Marja Pirila (Finland). Authors present at the opening. 

September 4 (Saturday) 21.00 – Old Town Night of Photography. Photography projections in different spaces of the Old Town. Program includes duets / duels of Kaunas and Klaipėda photographers, Portuguese and Brazilian photography, works of the members of Kaunas and Kėdainiai photography clubs, etc.

September 7 (Tuesday) 17.00 - Visiting of exhibitions by Jonathan Evans (UK) and Vilma Samulionytė (Lithuania) at the Communication Development Museum (Rotušės square 19).

September 7 (Tuesday) 18.00, Gallery MJ (Rotušės square 1) – Opening of exhibition “Face to face” by Françoise Beauguion (France).

September 8 (Wednesday) 16.30, K.Donelaičio str. 60 – Opening of exhibition “Savanoriai. Camera Obscura” by Darius Kuzmickas (USA-Lithuania).

September 8 (Wednesday) 17.30, Gallery F (Žaliakalnis Funicular, Aušros str. 6) – Opening of exhibition "Gallery F - 40 exhibitions".

September 8 (Wednesday) 19.00, Hotel Park INN, Alfa Hall (Donelaičio str. 27) – Second Night of Photography. In 1st part of the program, screening of the film by Vytautas Stanionis “Redounds”. In 2nd part, duet/duel of photography from Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. Curator of Central and Eastern Europe: Horst Klover (Berlin, Germany). Curator of Russian photography: Irina Chmyreva (Moscow, Russia). 14 artists’ works from each side represented.

September 9 (Thursday) 17.00 – Opening of leading exhibition “Duets and Duels” at the M.Žilinskas Art Gallery of the National M.K. Čiurlionis Museum (Nepriklausomybės square 12).
Authors: Vytautas Stanionis Senior and Vytautas Stanionis Junior (Lithuania), Oyvind Hjelmen and Catherine Cameron (Norway), Jens Sundheim and Bernhard Reuss (Germany), Valter Ventura and José Nuno Lamas (Portugal), Richard Simpkin (Australia), France Dubois (Belgium), Darius Kuzmickas (USA – Lithuania), Raoul Kramer (Netherlands), Nils Rebane (Estonia). Curator: Mindaugas Kavaliauskas.

September 9 (Thursday) 19.00, Auditorium of M.Žilinskas Art Gallery (Nepriklausomybės square 12) – Third Night of Photography “Photography Duel between Spain and UK”. 12 photographers from each country represented. Curator of UK photography: Louise Clements (Derby, UK). Curator of Spanish photography: Moritz Neumueller (Barcelona, Spain).

September 10-11 (Friday-Saturday) – KAUNAS PHOTO STAR portfolio reviews (for registered participants only). 

September 10 (Friday) 19.00, BLC Business Leaders Centre "Elipsė" Hall (K.Donelaičio str. 62) – Fourth Photography Night “Lithuanian-Latvian-Estonian Photography Trio”. 12 photographers from each country presented.

September 11 (Saturday) 19.00, BLC Business Center "Elipsė" Hall (K.Donelaičio str. 62) – KAUNAS PHOTO STAR Night of Photography. Projection of selected 50 photographers’ works. 2 min. of glory for each photographer !

September 13 (Monday) 21.00, Nida, Cinema Theatre Agila - KAUNAS PHOTO 2010 Presentation at the Photoartists’ workshop in Nida. Program includes Portuguese and Brazilian photography, Duets and Duels. Duration: 120 min.

September 15 (Wednesday) 17.00, Vytautas Magnus University Gallery 101 – Opening of photogram exhibition “Photobody”. Photograms produced during the joint project of Kaunas Dance Theatre “Aura” and Photoart Festival “Kaunas Photo”. Video screening of modern dance and photography performance of November 21, 2009. Authors of photograms: Mindaugas Kavaliauskas, assisted by Donatas Stankevičius and Jonas Petronis. Dancers: Lina Puodžiukaitė, Petras Lisauskas, Rūta Lelytė, Marius Pinigis.  

September 30 (Thursday) 17.00, Alytus City Theatre (Alytus) – Opening of Kaunas Photo Festival exhibition “Freedom for Photography!”. Works by 19 photographers from Lithuania, Czech Republic, Italy, Thailand, Australia, USA presented.

October 7 (Thursday) 17.00, Kaunas Photography Gallery – Concluding Festival Event – Overview of key moments of the festival and other pleasures :)
