Call for photographers
On August 27 (Saturday), 2011, 3 PM the 8th festival KAUNAS PHOTO 2011 is holding KAUNAS PHOTO StarT, a one day event of portfolio reviews, assembling a group of photography experts and photographers, regardless of their age, experience and achievements. The event creates a rare opportunity for photographers to show their works to respected personalities in the world of photography and receive their insights and feedbacks.
Participation at KAUNAS PHOTO StarT portfolio reviews can be an important step to any photographer. It is a vualbe experience for practicing photographers, focused on entering the world of art photography and planning to launch bodies of their creative work in form of exhibitions, books, looking for collaboration with galleries, agencies, or those who develop their first projects and looking for their own style.
KAUNAS PHOTO StarT - is not an advertising event of photography-related brands or a simple get-together event. It is an event with a limited number of photographers where the main attention is focused on discussing the reviewed photographers’ works. Differently from portfolio reviews KAUNAS PHOTO STAR, happening on August 25 and 26, KAUNAS
PHOTO StarT is not a competition. It is an event for photographers registered before the deadline and before the number of participants does not exceed the maximum. Photographers taking part in KAUNAS PHOTO STAR can register for KAUNAS PHOTO StarT.
The works of photographers will be reviewed in projections, according to a time table. In order to allow more time for feedback, photographers are invited to show 20-40 images of their own pre-selection. The main part of reviews will be projection of images on the screen, but photographers are encouraged to bring prints or dummy books, in case the quality of work cannot be translated in virtual images. Nonetheless, digital images are obligatory. Working language of the event is English.
KAUNAS PHOTO StarT takes place in the oldest art space of Kaunas - the first Gallery of M.K.Čiurlionis, now a part of Kaunas College, J.Vienožinskis Arts Faculty (A.Mackevičiaus g. 27, Kaunas).
After KAUNAS PHOTO StarT on the same day, Saturday, August 27 at 8 PM, same place will host the 5th Photography Night of KAUNAS PHOTO 2011 , featuring the project “Destinations Europe”, presented by Diaphane (Beauvais, France).

Submission of photographs in advance (not obligatory, but suggested)
Photographers will need to bring a USB with 20-40 jpg images to KAUNAS PHOTO StarT event. Seeking to avoid technical problems on the day of event and disturbance of the time table, photographers are invited to submit the material in advance. Pictures to be sent by email to festival@kaunasphoto.info . Attachment may contain:
- 20 – 40 jpg images, 1200 px on the longer side. RGB, JPG quality 90%. File naming: “Name_SURNAME_Title_Place_Year_01.jpg”. For sequencing, use numbers. Please, latin characters only.
- a short descritpion of the creative idea;
Multiple emails possible, with loose files of ZIP archives. Max 10 MB per email.
