“Meno parkas” gallery is hosting a duet of photography and objects by a duet of artists Petri Nuutinen and Marja Pirilä (Finland).
Spuses Petri Nuutinen and Marja Pirilä – are not ordinary representatives of the Finnish art scene. In a country famous for gadget-minded artists, they both have said their word in the development of contemporary image-based art.
Petri Nuutinen was one of the beginners of the pre-GPS photography in Europe in the 1990s, developping conceptions of the creative topographic photography and leaving behind the American traditional of the pictorial landscape. Marja Pirilä is the author of experiments with the camera obscura, that lead her to creating her signature series "Interior-Exterior". Among tens of today's artists, practicing the image of the outside world projected into closed environments, the works of Marja Pirilä stand out by their extreme sensibility, cosiness and emotional depth.
Exhibition at "Meno parkas" gallery is one of those rare exhibitions when spouses living in the Finnish town of Tampere show their works together, in one ensemble.
Moreover, both artists exhibit their signature works: Petri's "Places", where he studies different towns in the intersections of the global geographical grid. Marja Pirilä presents her series "Interior-Exterior", the impressive views of camera obscura, painted in rooms of people whom artist was visiting.
And the common work of both artists are sculptural interactive installations "Lips" will bring a testimony of the artists' enjoyment of life, photography, artistic creation and the beauty of movement.
Exhibition at gallery "Meno parkas" (Rotušės sq. 27, Kaunas) will run from September 3 to October 3 2010 (Mon-Fri 12 PM - 6 PM, Sat 11 AM - 4 PM). Free entrance
