Reaching Kaunas
...by plain:
If you fly Ryanair, you can reach land directly in Kaunas Airport. The distance from the Kaunas Karmėlava airport to the city centre 20-25 minutes by bus No. 29 (1.8 LTL or 0.5 EUR) Traffic schedules of the bus No. 29 .
By taxi it takes 15-20 minutes (up to 35 LTL or 10 EUR).
Most airlines from most European cities will take you to Vilnius airport.
There is special train between the Airport and the Railway Station. Located close to the passenger terminal, a train stop have staircase and elevator for passengers, lighting as well as a video supervision system for security of passengers. The needs of disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility have also been considered. Sheltered pedestrian path leading to the Airport lightened during dark period of a day. The travel fee is 2.5 LTL or 0.77 EUR.
There are more other options to reach a bus station from Vilnius airport: city bus No.1 (3 LTL or 0.9 EUR) or minibus (4 LTL or 1.2 EUR), also you can take a taxi (20 LTL or 7 EUR).
Bus station is in front of train station. Trip by bus takes approx. 90-120 minutes and costs 23 LTL or 7 EUR (the distance between Vilnius and Kaunas is 104 km).
You can also take a train from Vilnius train station to Kaunas. Trip takes approx. 65-120 minutes and cost 15-20 LTL or 4.3-7 EUR (depends on train), but it is worth knowing that due to construction works the train station of Kaunas is dislocated out of the centre, so the taxi to get to your hotel might be more costly.
To go by taxi to a „Centre hotel“ costs aprox.:
25 LTL or 7 EUR if you came to Kaunas by train;
13 LTL or 4 EUR if you came to Kaunas by bus.

Reaching Kaunas by car is very simple – it is located on the central Baltic road, Via Baltica. Which goes from Warsaw to Helsinki.
Currency
Lithuanian national currency is the Litas (LTL) and all cash transactions are done in LTL, therefore it is useful to have cash for small purchases. In some commerce they not always accept card payments. ATM machines serving Visa, Master and other common cards are widely distributed in the central part of town.

Weather
May is usually a time of beautiful and mild weather with temperatures between 13-25oC (during the day), with occasional rains possible. Kaunas Photo exhibitions are located in the central part of town, which is possible to walk on foot.
