A life with telvision, in and around the factories of Philips ir LG in Czech Republic and Slovakia, that emerged on an empty field, observed by Tomas Pospech, a rising star of Czech photography.

In the year 2001 I photographed a project about building of the TV screen-factory of the Hranice LG. Philips Displays company and in the next years (2001 – 2003) a colour documentary project about a life in this factory, stereotypes and automatization, specific company-culture and human relationships, which has this multinational corporation brought. The project is enclosed. This project is a part of wider project focused on a company-culture, multinational corporations, officies, competitions. I would like to catch this specifics, appeared after the 1989 in Czech and Slovak Republic in my project.

The Hranice LG.Philips Displays Technology Center is the first factory of a foreign company, which was built in the Czech Republic after 1989 on a so-called „green field“. Two blue and white half a kilometer long blocks, plain on the outside, of the Dutch-Korean technology center enclose an inner, slightly more pleasant courtyard with walls with rows of windows, glassed staircase towers and with a characteristic „hung up“ canteen. The international staff works is a clinically clean interior in the style of Mondrian’s paintings, most of the activities are automated. The international company has brought a specific way of production, corporate culture, relationships among the employees. The set of photographs was taken in the period from the factory opening in September 2001 till November 2003.
